Book Review: Royally Matched

~ Spoilers Free! Book Review: Royally Matched (Royally series #2) By: Emma Chase ~

SUMMARY

Since his brother abdicated his position as heir to the throne, Henry must now rise to the occasion. However, this fun playboy prince isn’t ready for the responsibilities and the foreseeable disappointment. In order to create some entertainment in his now serious life, Prince Henry secretly signs up for a dating show: Matched Royal Edition. Instead of being interested in the contestants, he finds himself wanting to spend all his time with Lady Sarah, a shy, independent, book-loving librarian. However, for them, falling in love isn’t easy and thus begins the love story between the ‘sad boy’ and ‘shy girl’.

REVIEW

I loved the first book, Royally Screwed. After finishing it, I knew I had to get my hands on the second book, Royally Matched. Right off the bat, I have to admit that I like the first book more than the second book. I felt that the banter and love was more enjoyable in the first one, but I am not saying that this second book is not good. Just like the first book, I was hooked right from the beginning and could not put it down. Emma Chase is such an awesome author and has this amazing ability to really hold the attention of her readers. I think the love story between the ‘sad boy’ and ‘shy girl’ and their personal growth is endearing. I absolutely adore Sarah; she is such a relatable and great character. It was fun watching Sarah and Henry grow together. In addition, this novel contains some literary and pop culture references which I appreciated. Overall, it was an entertaining story. I think it somewhat lacked real conflict (in their love not life) and the problem that showed up three quarters into the book could have flowed in better, but it was still a pleasurable tale. I missed some of our cute side characters, but I am looking forward to the third book very much; I can’t wait till it comes out. I would give this book a 3.5/5
