~ Spoiler Free! Movie Review: “Moana” ~

Moana is the strong-willed chief’s daughter of a Polynesian tribe, who is chosen by the ocean to return a mystical relic to its rightful place. However, she must first find Maui, a legendary demigod, in the hope of saving her people during a blight.

This was a really cute animated film, and it has that now classic Disney formula. You’ll notice it when you watch it, so there’s no way this movie could fail. Just look at the hilarious animal sidekicks! I give Disney props for creating a film revolving around POC / indigenous people and their way of life. It’s always great to see new and young talent being showcased. I wish Auli’i Cravalho all the best in her bright future. Anyways, the soundtrack is very addicting and fun to sing. Though I think the movie could have done more to relay its message of the relationship between mother nature and human beings, it does not stop the film from being endearing. Although “Moana” lacks that strong impact, it is still very much a Disney movie in its roots and will definitely be beloved. I do recommend it.
